How Do Christians Avoid Walking in Error?
The Christian life is one of incredible accuracy, but it is not one without mistakes. It is not a life where you leave yourself to error and hope for the best. It is one where you inoculate yourself ahead of error, instead of doing damage control after it happens. And you inoculate yourself with the Word of God only.
Correction: At 11:39 I said Job when speaking about the righteous man vexed in Sodom. I meant Lot.
For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds.
In this episode, we look at two stories: Ananias and Sapphira with the Apostle Peter, and Tobiah and Sanballat against Nehemiah. From them, four lessons:
- There is an infilling of the wrong thoughts, and it is a gradual process (Plēthō and Plēroō, two words for "filled").
- The greatest promoters of the foolishness you could manifest are those around you.
- Not being full of the Spirit leaves room for error.
- For every good thing God wants to achieve, there is one input the devil will attempt to make.
Plēthō
πλήθω · Strong's G4130
The acute, event-based filling. A moment. An inrush.
Plēroō
πληρόω · Strong's G4137
The sustained, saturating, completing filling. A state. A continuous condition.
